Why does Net Friends charge sales tax to non-profit organizations?

Net Friends is headquartered in North Carolina and is subject to the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) rules and regulations. NCDOR considers IT support services, equipment, and software sales, etc. to be subject to sales tax. Net Friends is required by law to collect and report regularly on sales tax to NCDOR.

Non-profits are required to pay sales tax on purchases they make for their operations.

The state issues sales tax refunds for qualified non-profits, provided these organizations follow NCDOR guidance on how to request refunds. We recommend that you consult with a tax professional to ensure compliance and maximize potential benefits.
